Hoop Earrings

Jumping Hoops To Create Drama

Hoop earrings are quickly becoming a classic accessory that will reserve a place on the red carpet, no matter what year it is. Whether they are studded with diamonds, plain, or made from bamboo, many celebrities enjoy the fun and drama of a good pair of hoop earrings. It wasn't until recently though, with the emphasis on big, over-sized pieces of statement jewelry, that more stars are taking the plunge. A look that might have been reserved for hip hop stars is now going mainstream.

Ovals Are In

Hoops are great when round, but better when oval. Oval hoops are dramatic and allow for numerous design probabilities, from hanging a small colored stone within the loop to adding diamonds to the edges. Or, if you're like Kim Kardashian, you don't have to make up your mind. You can do both! She was spotted wearing a stunning, diamond-studded, pair of hoop earrings to the 51st Annual Grammy Awards. Dangling within the loop was a small pink colored gemstone that was the perfect accent. Expect to see any number of unusual shapes showing up from oval to triangular hoops, in layers, diamonds, gemstones, and more luscious combinations.

Versatility and Fun

The flexibility of hoop earrings is that they come in all sizes. If you want to buck the over-sized trend, there is still a pair of hoop earrings for you. They can come in diminutive to elephantine sizes. You don't have to sport a huge set to get in on the action this season. Opting for layered hoops is a way to increase the size without feeling like you're left dangling, although that's part of the fun. Hoop can be worn dangling or studded, thus fitting any style of dress or fashion that might show up on the red carpet or in your own home.
