    I grew up in an antique house with a couple of antique clocks. The clock on our mantelpiece did the same chimes as "Bib Ben" (noisy at 12:00) but somehow soothing to... maybe it was a sense of pathos and maybe just a deep predictable musical echos contrasting with the cacophony of rationalizations ricocheting around our brains as we tried to make sense of the world around us. I kind of miss it in a nostalgic way even though it was quite loud.
